Volumetric Pipets

Volumetric Pipets

Pipets calibrated to accurately contain a fixed amount of liquid and typically designated as ‘to deliver’ (drained by gravity). This pipet has a reservoir between two elongated sections and, typically, a single graduation mark, and may deliver volumes ranging from 0.5 to 100 mL or more.

Volumetric pipettes, also known as bulb pipettes, are manual liquid handling devices used in laboratories to transfer and dispense a single, specific quantity of liquid to a very high degree of accuracy. They are normally used in conjunction with a suitable pipette filler for user safety.

Volumetric pipettes may be made from clear borosilicate glass or soda lime glass. Amber glass versions are also available for light-sensitive samples. Pipets may be designated as Class A or Class B depending on their accuracy and tolerance, and may also be certified or serialized, with documented manufacturing standards, compliance, conformity, and traceability.

What is a Volumetric Pipette Used For?
Volumetric pipettes have many uses in the laboratory or the wider working environment:
• Creation of serial dilutions and stock solutions
• Titrations and volumetric analysis
• Routine handling of analytical solutions, cell culture media, organic chemicals, solvents, and other liquids
