Europium(III) oxide is used for vacuum deposition, fluorescent lamps, and as an activator for yttrium-based phosphors, manufacture of fluorescent glass, anti-counterfeiting phosphors in Euro banknotes. And it is widely used as a red or blue phosphor in television sets.
