Description
The Thermo Scientific MagJET Whole Blood Genomic DNA Kit is designed for fast and efficient purification of genomic DNA from fresh or frozen whole blood treated with EDTA or citrate, as well as blood fractions. Note: Samples preserved with heparin are not compatible with this kit.The kit utilizes paramagnetic bead technology enabling high yields and robust performance. High binding capacity, uniform particle size, and rapid magnetic response of MagJET magnetic beads makes the technology ideal for high throughput automatic nucleic acid purification, as well as for manual purification by low sample throughput users.
The resulting high quality DNA is free of proteins, nucleases and other contaminants or inhibitors, can be used in a wide range of downstream applications such as PCR, qPCR and other enzymatic reactions.
Highlights
- Compatible - suitable to use with common stabilizers such as EDTA, citrates
- Versatile - suitable for gDNA purification from fresh, frozen or dried blood, as well as bone marrow and buffy coat
- Efficient - high yields of pure DNA free of contaminants and downstream application inhibitors
- Flexible - easily adjustable for high throughput automation platforms and manual processing
Isolated genomic DNA is ideal for use in common molecular biology procedures, including:
- PCR and qPCR
- FastDigest and conventional restriction digestion
- Southern blotting
- Lysis Buffer
- MagJET Magnetic Beads
- Proteinase K
- Binding Buffer
- Wash Buffer 1 (conc.)
- Wash Buffer 2 (conc.)
- Elution Buffer

Quality Control: The MagJET Whole Blood Genomic DNA Kit is qualified by isolating genomic DNA from 200 μL of frozen human whole blood following the protocol outlined in the manual. The quality of isolated DNA is evaluated spectrophotometrically and by agarose gel electrophoresis. The purified DNA has an A260/A280 ratio of 1.8±0.2. The functional quality of purified DNA is evaluated by digestion with restriction endonucleases.
