Thermo Scientific™ PathoDx™ RSV Kit, Truant-Moore
PathoDX™ RSV kit is an immunofluorescent test used for detecting Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) in prepared direct patient specimens.
Brand: Thermo Scientific™ R62370
Description
Perform direct immunofluorescence test for the qualitative detection of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) in prepared direct patient specimens and following growth in cell culture using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ PathoDX™ RSV kit. Viral respiratory diseases in children and adults cause significant morbidity and mortality, especially in young children and older adults. Respiratory specimens (nasopharyngeal aspirates or swabs) are tested for the presence of viral antigen.
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the major cause of acute viral respiratory disease in infants and young children. Illness occurs in about 10 to 40% of those children infected for the first time1. RSV is distributed worldwide, causing annual winter outbreaks of respiratory disease, particularly in temperate climates2. Early and rapid diagnosis of RSV infections is critical in order to initiate therapy and to control nosocomial infections. Ribavirin aerosol is used to treat RSV bronchiolitis and pneumonia3,4. Immunofluorescence has been shown to be sensitive and specific for the detection of RSV antigens in nasopharyngeal secretions5–8.
- Ready-to-use – Prepared reagents
- Easy-to-store – Store at 2-8°C
- Easy to interpret – RSV viral antigens show a characteristic apple-green fluorescence
RSV Reagent is one dropper bottle containing 5.0 mL of fluorescein-labeled purified specific murine monoclonal antibodies, and Evans blue counterstain in a protein-stabilized buffer solution, with 0.098% sodium azide as preservative.
