Description

BD Trypticase™ Soy Agar is a general purpose medium which supports the growth of nonfastidious and moderately fastidious microorganisms.

Formula (per 1L purified water):
- 15g pancreatic digest of Casein
- 5g pancreatic digest of Soybean
- 5g Sodium Chloride (NaCl)
- 15g Agar
Casein and soy peptones supply organic nitrogen, amino acids and longer-chained peptides
Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic equilibrium
Not recommended for the primary isolation of microorganisms from clinical specimens
May be used for subcultivating bacterial strains isolated from clinical specimens to obtain pure cultures
May also be used for further differentiation and identification
