Formamide

Derived from formic acid, formamide is the simplest monocarboxylic acid amide. Available in various quantities, it is used as a solvent for ionic compounds, resins, and plasticizers and in the manufacture of drugs, herbicides, pesticides, and hydrocyanic acid.
